Announcement of the Recruitment of Undergraduate Researchers in the Research laboratory 

To provide undergraduate students of our university with opportunities to experience graduate-level research laboratories in their field of study and gain hands-on experimental practice, we aim to foster skilled individuals in the field of life sciences with enhanced experimental abilities and research competitiveness. Application information for the College of Life Sciences and Biotechnology Undergraduate Researcher Program is as follows. We encourage active participation from students who have an interest in the program.

1. Eligible applicants: 

  •   - Undergraduate students affiliated with the College of Life Science and Biotechnology 
  •   - Including the students who are pursuing a double major in a department within the College of Life Science and Biotechnology 
  •    - Students affiliated with the College of Life Science and Biotechnology can apply and get selected to the laboratory regardless of their college/department

2. Fields: 

- Life Science, Biotechnology, Food Science and Technology, Environmental Science and Ecological Engineering, Food and Resource Economics

3. Period: December 20, 2024 (Fri) – February 7, 2025 (Fri) (specific 4 weeks schedule to be discussed with the selected research lab within the vacation period)

4. Application Period: November 27 (Wed) – December 3 (Tue)

5. Interviews: December 4 (Wed) – December 13 (Fri)

> Individual interviews will be conducted with the Professors of the research laboratory to which the applicant has applied

6. Support: 300,000 KRW per student (before tax) as support for laboratory assistance expenses, certificate issuance

 - Support fee will be paid in mid-February 2025

 - Certificates will be issued starting from February 24 (Mon)

  •      > visit and collect from the College of Life Sciences and Biotechnology Administration Office 
  •        (East building Room: 220)

    (Attachment 1) submit in one file( content: application form/self introduction/transcript)

  •       - Attach the transcript at the end of the document in image format

8. Application Method: Check the list of research laboratories recruiting undergraduate researchers

> Write your application (1-2nd choice) and submit it to the College of Life Sciences and Biotechnology homepage [write it as a private(secret) post]

  •   - Writing a post is only available after login with your portal ID and sign up for the homepage
  •   - (Menu) University board > Undergraduate researcher > Choose the 1st choice Professor’s department page
  •   - The application submission must be done on the 1st choice Laboratory (Professor)’s department page (not the  applicant’s department page)
  •      # Title of Application post: “[(1st choice) Professor Name] Applicant Name” Form

9. Announcement of Final Results: expected to be on December 18 (Wed) after 2 PM (results will be posted on the homepage)

10. Submission of Practical Results Report until February 7, 2025 (Fri)

After completing the undergraduate research program, a 'Practical Results Report' (Attachment 2) must be written, signed by the Advisor Professor, and submitted to the college’s administrative office.

  # Submission Methods:

  •    - (Visit) the administration office (East building Room: 220, submit to the “submission box”)
  •    - (Email) submission: bebe1179@korea.ac.kr

   # Students who have not completed the program by the deadline must submit a midterm report instead (same format, only the title should be modified)

11. Important Notes:

  •   - Priority will be given to new applicants to provide more opportunities to a broader range of students
  • (If the applicant has previously participated in a particular laboratory, they cannot apply or be assigned to the same laboratory again.
  •   - Use only the official post/file name template and the application form when submitting your application
  •   - Attach the transcript as an image file at the end of the application file to make a total of 1 file and submit it
  •   - Support fee will be transferred only to the applicant’s bank account registered with the university
    •    [If the registered bank account is inactive (dormant), support fee can not be provided]
    •    (If the student has not registered their bank account information or wishes to make a change, they must visit the administration office with a copy of their bankbook) 
  •   - Re-issuance of the certificate will not be possible; therefore, make a copy after receiving it
      - The certificate of completion will be disposed of after 2 years from the issuance date and cannot be reissued
  •  - Noncompliance with any of the rules stated above may result in disqualification.

Tip: Consulting with the research lab Professor in advance may significantly help with your application.
