Korea University IFLS FLC(Foreign Language Center) will conduct the "Academic English Placement Test" in order to accurately assign the appropriate level for Academic English(mandatory English courses) to all KU freshmen.

 

1. Applicants : All 2015 KU Anam Freshmen (Mandatory Exam)

   Include students who did not take this exam in 2012 - 2014


2. Exam Format : paper based test 90 questions (80 minutes)

   * grammar 40, reading 50, no listening test.


3. Test Fee : Free of Charge


4. Date, Place of Examination & Required Preparations

  A. Date of Examination : August 20th (THU) 10:30 ~ 11:50[80mins]

      * Examinee(s) must arrive at the place of examination on earlier than 10:00am.

*If a examinee can not take this exam on August 20th (THU),he or she should take a supplementary exam which is due on August 31st 7:00 pm.


  B. Place of Examination : Room #102 ~ Room #111

     in Woodang Hall(우당교양관) at KU Anam Campus (Liberal Arts. & Social Science Campus) Please find the attached   map.


  C. Preparations : Bring only No.2 or HB pencils (Mechanical pencils and pens are not permitted), erasers, valid ID

     (National ID, Passport, Driver's License, Alien Registration Card)

    * Examinee(s) without a valid ID will not be allowed to take the exam.


5. Exam results and other related important information

  A. Personal inquiries regarding exam results will not be answered.

  B. If you do not take this exam, you can not register for Academic English Course(mandatory English course required for graduation) in 2015.


  C. Students have to register for IFLS003 Academic EnglishI, or IFLS100 Advanced Academic English during the course registration period 2015 August 26th (WED) 10:00 ~ August 27th(THU) 10:00. * KU IFLS (the Institute of Foreign Language Studies) will give prior notification to the level;the result of Placement Test for each student via sms and email on August 25th 16:00.


  D. Freshmen deemed to be "advanced level" will only be required to take Advanced Academic English(2 Credits) Course during the first semester and will be exempted from taking Academic English I(2 Credits) & Academic English (2 Credits). Therefore, advanced level students do not need to take Academic English (2 Credits) for a subsequent semester, and can choose any another course(2 Credits).


  E. Freshmen deemed to be "Foundation Level" or "Intermediate" level must take Academic English (2 Credits) for the first semester, Academic English (2 Credits) for a subsequent semester.
